Curious about food security, farming, and federal policy? You’re in the right place!
Welcome to the Michigan Alliance to Stop Hunger (MASH) website! MASH is a hub for resources, advocacy tools, and opportunities related to the food bank network, and food security for all Michiganders. We host a monthly conference call, and occasionally send opportunities, action alerts, and resources out to our group.
Advocacy can take many forms throughout the legislative process, but at its simplest, it is education and open communication. Sharing with others why something is important to you, or your organization, is a great way to build a partnership, start a collaborative relationship, and advance those issues so close to your heart.
MASH covers a variety of topics that affect both Michiganders and the nation as a whole. Our efforts are focused mostly on legislation and programming that impact the lives of the low-income population, for example: emergency food resources, utility assistance, school and summer feeding programs, access to grocery stores or farmer’s markets. Each of these can have a lasting and meaningful impact on quality of life and a person’s ability to be self-sufficient. Our monthly calls are an opportunity for organizations who have similar visions, but different strategies for implementation, to join together and work together.
If you or your organization have resources or stories to share, are concerned about a related topic, or would like to be a part of the conversation, join our email list! You can fill out the form on the “Contact” page to be added, or to send a message.
Stay tuned as we add content relating to current events and advocacy issues. We hope you find this website to be a resource helpful in your advocacy efforts!
