SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), is a federal program that provides nutrition assistance to low-income individuals and families who qualify. It helps so many people- and right now, it’s at risk of being cut.

SNAP is a big part of the federal Farm Bill- in fact, the biggest part of the bill. The House version of the Farm Bill makes drastic cuts to the program, that would harm many vulnerable populations. The Senate version protects and strengthens the SNAP program, thanks to the bipartisan efforts of Senator Stabenow (D-MI) and Senator Roberts (R-KS).

Right now, Congress is negotiating a final Farm Bill. The conference committee is expected to meet publicly for the first time next week.

Now is the time to let your Representative and Senators know how important it is to protect SNAP for you, and your community.
