An empty plate, means an empty stomach.

And on an empty stomach, no one can reach their full potential.

The feeling of running on empty is a reality for over 1.4 million Michiganders, including almost 357,000 children. We need to make sure that no child, adult or senior in America ever runs on empty. So while it’s tough to do basic activities on empty, it’s easy to make a difference.

During the month of September, Hunger Action Month, here are a few simple ways to spread the word and get involved:

  • Volunteer at your local food bank or pantry,
  • Cook a meal with friends and family, and talk about hunger and food waste,
  • Call your Member of Congress, tell them how important it is for your community members to be well fed,
  • Wear orange on 9/13 and post a photo on social media with the hashtag #HungerActionMonth

It takes a full stomach to keep going, to work productively, and for kids to learn. Everyone needs enough fuel to tackle the day.

What can you do to #endhunger?
